Is DeskMD HIPAA compliant?
DeskMD is built on HIPAA-eligible AWS services and signs a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with every customer. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256). Access to call audio, transcripts, and caller information is logged in an audit trail accessible to your account owner.
Do I need to change my phone system?
No. DeskMD is a forwarding destination. We give you a phone number; you forward your office line to it whenever you want DeskMD to answer (after hours, lunch, holidays, or 24/7). Your existing line, PBX, and number stay exactly as they are.
How does the AI know what to collect from callers?
During setup you tell the AI in plain English what your practice does and what information you need from callers — name, DOB, callback number, insurance, reason for calling, anything else. The AI follows those instructions exactly. You can edit them at any time and changes take effect on the very next call.
What happens with non-English speakers?
